Emma Kisiel
Artist Statement
I have not been further than an hour or so from my home in Tigard, Oregon since March 14. Fifteen weeks, as of this writing. There is nowhere to go, other than somewhere within the short radius of my house to give my dogs a walk each day. We walk our "to town" and "to the school" routes; we drive to a nearby trail just to see somewhere different. The walks are longer than before. We can take more time. I am looking more closely. It feels like a responsibility now - to be a witness in this time.
Artist Bio
Emma Kisiel is a photography artist based in Portland, Oregon. She holds a bachelor of fine arts with an emphasis in photography from the University of Colorado Denver and she is the author of the blog and online artist index Muybridge's Horse. Her work has been featured on Esquire Russia, Juxtapoz, and the Huffington Post. Her photographs explore the relationship between humans and nature and question the authenticity of the moments we share with animals.
