Artist Statement

From early on I knew I was adopted into a Forest Service Family. We moved from one US National Forest Station to the next. As a result, my personal connection to the environment shapes both my existence and identity. I explore how environmental experience is tied to place and how environmental/ecologically-focused histories and stories are told. Using a combination of photographic light sensitivity and photosynthesis I explore the lingering yet ephemeral traces of human contact with nature. I use the resulting aesthetics of this contact to activate material relations, making the intangible visible.
