Dawn Surratt explores the fragmented landscape of memory and perception in her project Real But Not True. Emerging from the uncertainty of the pandemic, her work reflects on the tension between emotional experience and distorted belief. Disparate materials become constructed narratives that question memory and reality, inviting viewers to consider the shifting space between what feels real and what may or may not be true.

Mark Maio’s Against The Grain turns silos and grain harvesters into layered visual narratives. Being an outsider who was granted unrestricted access to the sites, he documented the communities during the two decades before their work was replaced by full automation. Combined with Maio’s extensive research into industrial heritage, these images offer a compelling record of the scoopers’ world, witnessing their labor and traditions during the final years of a remarkable era.
