Artist Statement

I have always been intrigued by the search for beauty in places where beauty is not expected to be located.  This search is particularly relevant today as many of us are simply trying to survive—in many different ways and on many different levels—in a world of ugly—also in many different ways and on many different levels.  These five photographs, I think, are quite beautiful, as unconventional and unanticipated as that beauty may be.  The photographs were taken in the industrial sections of Portland and Vancouver.
