On Physics

January 5, 2006 - January 28, 2006

Naglaa Walker’s stunning “On Physics” series draws on her background as a scientist and physics researcher. Using diptyches, she juxtaposes blackboard images of chalked equations with carefully staged photographic images, enabling the viewer to make connections between the abstraction of physical laws and the reality of experience. Human emotional behavior such as kissing or arguing, is paired with a graphic physical law. She writes, “The work engages with the scientific environment from an artistic viewpoint, rendering an intuitive sense rather than a literal interpretation of physics and thus challenges preconceptions about science and its accessibility.”
