FACETIME
Photography and family have been intertwined for me since I first picked up a camera as a child. I am interested in relationships and interactions; the humor found is a nice bonus. Unlike any previous work, I used the screen shot feature on my phone to make these.
FaceTime calls between grandparents and grandchildren combine two different worlds. While adults are attuned to the other end of the call, toddlers might be fascinated but might also be easily distracted. What is captured in the screen shot is the result of unrehearsed spontaneity, speed and chance. Nothing can be organized or planned; the kids constantly move and on both ends of the conversation phones get jostled.
These ten images were captured in a six month period. Two different worlds visually collide, and we see a glimpse into the chaos of family life.
