Sarah Grew

Artist Statement

Air is the most elusive of the four elements. Invisible, it surrounds us. The series, Thinking About Air, examines air pollution through photographs of clouds, or visible air. These images, printed with common air pollutants, captured smog, are on mirrors creating a reflective play with the viewer. The works capture the ephemeral but serious nature of climate change and our relationship to it while also calling out to Alfred Stieglitz and the long tradition of photographing clouds. For Blue Sky a digital copy of the original two color carbon print is presented.
