Steven Rotter

Artist Statement

In Rose Portraits, I draw inspiration from Renaissance and Netherlandish art, particularly the symbolism and detail in Renaissance still life paintings. These works often explore themes of beauty, transience, and mortality. My intention is to evoke a sense of reverence and devotion, offering a contemporary reflection on love, loss, and the fragility of life. The photographs are taken in botanical gardens, as they are found onsite.
