Rachel Nixon

Artist Statement

The COVID-19 lockdown prompted a flood of conflicting feelings within me. There was the urgent need to keep myself and others safe, while also feeling imprisoned within my own restricted space. The peace and beauty that can emerge from such a period of extended confinement and silence, while the darkness of one’s own worst thoughts is never that far away. An intense longing for the vibrant world outside that I can no longer see clearly. And finally, the hope that we may choose to live a little differently once this is all over.
