Artist Statement
As a historian, I know America has crushed many past efforts for racial justice. But as an educator and writer, I believe the actions we take in the present are the only way to create a more just future. What beauty and change will we make out of all the pain, grief, and loss that has brought us here? How might this movement born out of an unprecedented period of social isolation differ from those struggles that came before?
