Kris Moore

Artist Statement

I began "House Divided" in 2016 as a gut response to a corrupt president and the political party that enables him. I tend to photograph older middleclass homes in stable communities normally untouched by crime or violence, then digitally or physically alter the images to suggest that complacency enables misunderstanding.
Because I'm a news junkie, I incorporate articles from newspapers and magazines to highlight the excellent work being done by print journalists. The actual newsprint lends authenticity to my thesis and transforms a reproducible work into a unique object.
