Artist Statement

2020. I felt powerless over the care of my mother and learned to operate inside a relationship bound by incarceration. I was invited to document the "drive-up" graduation celebrations of dozens of graduates smiling on their front lawns, in the parking lots of their housing complexes and on curbsides in lieu of a place to call home. I witnessed as thousands of participants showed up nightly for the Black Lives Matter (BLM) rallies and I documented their demands for justice in our community and our country. This is America in the Spring, in the Summer, in the future of 2020.
