“A photograph can be analogous to a song, where the visual composition compares to the music and the image content compares to the lyrics. What first catches my eye can be either a conjunction of visual or metaphorical elements, but the picture doesn't't work unless those two elements harmonize in balance with each other. Each of these three photos seem to me to achieve that balance - with both composition and metaphor asserting themselves quietly but neither dominating.”
