Rebecca Johnson

Artist Statement

These photographs were made in moments of pause—between travel, in borrowed rooms, beside shifting water. I am drawn to the ordinary transformed by light: an orange leaning into shadow, a curtain that divides the room from the city beyond, leaves suspended in reflection. Each image is both fleeting and enduring, holding memory at the edge of disappearance. My work seeks these in-between states, where presence and absence coexist. Photography, for me, is a way of noticing and keeping—an act of care for what might otherwise slip away.
