Artist Statement

Since my twenties, I have been passionate about exploring museums and galleries in every city I visit. I find myself awed, inspired, and amused by the people who watch the art, the people who look, and how the art is exhibited.

Artist Bio

Dan Nelken is a visual artist, documentary storyteller, educator, and lecturer based in New York City. He specializes in long-term projects that provide insight into individuals and communities often overlooked by the cultural mainstream.

His photographs have been exhibited and published internationally and are in both public and private collections, including the MAST Foundation, Bologna, IT, The International Center of Photography, New York, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Portland Museum of Art, Haverford College Fine Art Photography Collection, Haverford, PA, and The Vontobel Art Collection, Zurich, CH.
