Megan Hatch

Artist Statement

Nature is a teacher and collaborator rather than subject matter in my work. As the daughter of farmers, I grew up listening to the land. Growing up queer, I learned to listen to and trust my own nature. When I have a camera in my hands, it feels like I'm listening through my eyes: grief lives in the soil, hope flickers in and out of focus like fog, and transformation arrives as a shift in light. Photography is one of the ways that I repair, make sense of, or just remember a greater whole.
