Mark Mardon
Artist Statement
I’m drawn to what’s in between—places that feel both familiar and distant. Over time, I became less interested in showing what I saw and more focused on what I felt. I began letting go of precision and leaned into motion, layering, and blur—exploring what lingers beneath the surface. My images come from many places, but it’s the feeling that matters: a shift in light, a fleeting presence, something real—even if we can’t quite say where, or when.
Artist Bio
Raised in rural Maryland, I moved to Portland 30 years ago. I became interested in photography in the late 90's and have recently been focused on movement and abstraction, favoring the emotions that an image conjures rather than the place or the moment.
