Grace Weston
Artist Bio
Working in staged photography, I construct, light, and photograph miniature tableaux in my studio. Though I never depict actual people, the human psyche and condition remain central to my work.
This piece recreates David Scherman's iconic photograph of Lee Miller bathing in Hitler's tub, her boots still muddy from documenting the concentration camps at Buchenwald and Dachau. Miller's defiant act—claiming space in the dictator's private sanctuary while carrying the evidence of his atrocities—embodies profound resistance.
This work launches a series exploring women's roles in resistance movements throughout Western society, examining how individual acts of defiance shape history.
