Artist Statement
Traveling by train between my granddaughters in New Jersey and cousins in Washington DC has become a pleasure. I sit next to a window that is usually dirty. I don’t read. I don’t sleep. I spend the entire ride tapping my iPhone camera and capturing the changing vista that’s along the tracks as we pass through big cities, small towns and the countryside. It never gets boring.
Artist Bio
I grew up in post-World War II Brooklyn with the city’s art museums. I have a BFA and an MA. In 1973 my husband and I moved to Oregon. I discovered B/W photography when I received a Nikon FE for my 50th birthday. My husband was my partner in my photography adventures. He died unexpectedly days before the pandemic lockdown. I haven’t been in the darkroom since. I just celebrated my 80th birthday. Although shooting black/white with my film cameras still brings me joy, my aging eyes and subject matter often are better served by my iPhone camera.
