Artist Statement
My photographs of birds and wildlife traverse the boundary between description and suggestion. I am keenly aware that our views of them are shaped by myths, stories, and a history of visual representations, as well millennia of evolutionary co-existence with birds and other fauna. I produce work designed to recognize and appreciate those ancient connections at a time when modern patterns of life often disrupt and alienate them. As we now recognize more fully, this alienation has vast repercussions.
