Artist Statement
I am a film photographer and interdisciplinary artist, 25, living & working in Portland, OR. Throughout my current photographic work, I aim to capture the western American landscape through the vernacular of signage, structures, and people placed on the land in order to create a contemporary portfolio of the effects of capitalism, colonization, and human involvement in the region. With the addition of the built environment juxtaposed onto the terrain, the images stray from conventional landscape photography, while also pulling from the rich traditions of the genre in the regio
