This series, entitled "Brocéliande," began with an error -- a couple years ago, while doing film photography in Portland, I accidentally underexposed a roll of film by two stops (i.e., the photos were significantly darker than planned). I expected to write off the photos as a loss, but was surprised to find that I preferred the muted, dreamlike effect to the more 'standard' film photography I had been focused on previously. I spent most of 2018 and 2019 experimenting with this effect in the streets and parks of Portland, drastically underexposing the photos and adjusting the prints to convey a sense of the mystery of everyday objects, a sort of dreaming in the daylight of the city.
