Jeana Edelman

I respectfully submit this recent body of work, shot mostly in SE Portland, where I live.
My photographs are a form of everyday note-taking; an exciting or subtle flash of sight, a convergence of color and shape are taken from the seemingly ordinary. I look for a surprise, a sliver of the sublime, if I'm lucky something humorous, humane, transitory. I like to make an intimate composition that reads from across the room, contrary elements caught fast from the flow of an often-chaotic world, documenting an exquisite but burdened civilization. I call it witnessing beauty.
I use an iPhone primarily and love the dance moves it takes to get the picture, refine the composition. I make inkjet prints on fine art paper.
