Artist Statement

These images were taken during a solo visit to SE Asia last February. It coincided with Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations and the initial spread of COVID-19 outside China. For 3 weeks I remained one step ahead of its deadly toll, and watched the streets, shops, temples, and Hawker Markets of Hanoi, Bangkok, Penang, and Kuala Lumpur empty virtually overnight. Wandered ghostly streets, public squares, and temples in vibrant cities that shut down virtually overnight. Photographed things people left behind as they dashed to safety, and nervously waited for my turn to go home and leave my own things behind.

Artist Bio

Just a keen observer who appreciates the beauty and chaos of the natural world, and the ones humans create. When I can't find what I'm looking for, I create the worlds I'd like to see.
