Artist Statement
There are walls around us. That came up seemingly out of nowhere. I find myself unable to move, blocked in ways that take up space inside my mind. So I made a box.
I was thinking I would make it myself. Because sometimes our boxes are ones we make ourselves, with care and on purpose. Other times they are made by someone else and we get in them.
It turned out to be harder than I thought, so I needed help. That feels right too.
One way or another, if we want to make a box, we find a way.
Artist Bio
Jolie Goodson is a professional photographer out of Portland, Oregon. She has 20 years of commercial photography experience beginning in NYC on staff at Vogue magazine, later with Annie Leibovitz, then continuing on to freelance out of Portland for brands like Nike, Starbucks and Google; as well as concentrating on personal work. A lifelong traveler, she has visited over 40 countries with endless curiosity and a camera.
