Alice Christine Walker

Artist Statement

As a street photographer, I have been increasing compelled to document people at night in dark bars, dance clubs and parties alike.  I have loved capturing tender moments of intimacy with the surprise of a hand held flash.  These five images were all taken in 2020 with my Rolleiflex, in Portland bars, even one from the Chilean Patagonia.  I am drawn to this selection in the shadow of Covid.  With the last few months of quarantine, I look back at these images fondly.  I am certain that times will return to these moments of light, touch and embrace.
