Frank Yamrus

May 3, 2001 - June 2, 2001

Frank Yamrus’ intimate photographs blend the physiology and psychology of ‘rapture’ through a series of compelling portraits of individuals just prior to or just after achieving orgasm. In The Portrait Series, Yamrus captures honest moments of ecstasy, showing the face only, and allows the viewer to contemplate the humanness of this event through a still photograph. He writes, “In this series of portraits, the subject, and therefore the viewer, is stripped of all context and environment to look at this state called rapture… My intent was to capture the physiological changes during this physical crisis, but most importantly to consider the psychological components surrounding this event.”
