Vincent Cianni

September 7-30, 2000

Personal and insightful, Cianni's black and white portraits of the people of Williamsburg, Brooklyn reflect a diverse and tight-knit community. Cianni captures the personalities of his subjects, as well as the flavor of the neighborhood that he also calls home. Issues like AIDS, drugs, and violence affect the neighborhood in a way that forces human frailities to be accepted as much as human strengths. The photographs celebrate, without sensationalism but with much respect and honest, the lives of the people who live in this community.
