Rosswog’s series of images, “Inside Houses” details his observations of domestic arrangements in rural Europe, combining academic ethnological documentation with artistic photography. He portrays, waits and collects. Things to not exist, as much as come into existence through his observation. A stove, cupboard, vase, telephone—seen by Rosswog, unfold a magic life of their own. The interiors beam vivid color and striking warmth, drawing in the viewer to examine for themselves every detail of these homes and the lives that dwell inside. In contrast, the exteriors are always photographed in black and white to emphasize the role of landscape, the context of homes against the earth
