Ferit Kuyas

Ferit Kuyas’ series City of Ambition – Fast Forward in China is a view on one of the largest cities in the world – Chongqing.   Kuyas’ photographs of the outskirts of this fast growing city and its surreal scenery show us metaphorical facets of the huge changes taking place in contemporary China.

Kuyas states: “I am mainly interested in the outskirts of Chongqing where the city can’t be really seen but sensed, like a tiger moving through the jungle – invisible yet there. Sometimes it feels like moving trough a surreal scenery, like through a set made for a movie. I did chose to work in color, keeping the saturation low, as this fits best for this project, giving a sense of that surreality back to the images.”
