Artist
Mouzakiti’s In Limbo, a series of photographs taken in the London underground
during the years 1999-2004, explores the notion of “civil inattention” in the
public realm. Taken with a digital video-camera at waist level, she captures
the “inactivity” of the moment and ponders the oppositional roles of “theatricality
and absorption” in her subjects as they are observed partaking mainly in activities
of the private domain: reading, sleeping, and daydreaming. Mouzakiti
will lecture on Friday, September 8th at 7:30 pm.
