Blue Sky Gallery, 1231 NW Hoyt, is proud to present a lecture and slide presentation by Radek Skrivanek of San Francisco, California, and Kate Mellor of Great Britain on Friday, November 3 at 7:30 pm at Blue Sky Gallery. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Kate Mellor’s sweeping project, “In The Steps of Robert Pinnacle” was commissioned by the European Festival of Photography and the Digital Image to document European spa towns. Using a pinhole camera, Mellor based the project upon the career of a fictional landscape painter, using the construct of his life, habits, and journal to frame the narrative thread running throughout and containing the concept. She writes, “ I decided to explore our notions of history for this commission and realized there was a strong parallel between history and photography, that they have the same relationship to the ‘real.’ I worked with a mixture of fact and fiction—providing excerpts from Pinnacle’s journals which are hung alongside the images.”
