Blue Sky Gallery, 1231 NW Hoyt, is proud to present a lecture and slide presentation by visiting photographer Dona Schwartz on Friday, May 5 at 7:30 pm at Blue Sky Gallery. The lecture is free and open to the public.

“In The Kitchen” Is Schwartz’s intimate and honest look at the complexities of family. Within the special parameters of this one room she discovered a range of activities, interactions and emotions all reflecting on family, interconnection, behaviors and values. The series focuses on her family, documenting the complicated process of merging two families, herself and three children, and partner and his three children. She writes, “The kitchen is the hub of my family’s life. It’s the place where we seek physical and emotional sustenance. It’s the place where we congregate to touch base, negotiate, and strategize…we pass on ideals, skills, and traditions in the kitchen.”
