Blue Sky Gallery, 1231 NW Hoyt, is proud to present a lecture and slide presentation by Portland photographer Ann Ploeger on Thursday, October 14 at 7:30 pm at Blue Sky Gallery. The lecture is free and open to the public.

For the past five years, Ann Ploeger has been photographing friends and family with the intent of presenting a visual record of the people in her life. Ploeger’s color photographs attempt to capture the subject’s true self while making their awareness of the photographic process a priority. Centered in each photograph, the subject’s placement suggests that they could be replaced with any other person in the series, but upon closer inspection, every nuance and environment presents the subject’s uniqueness and expands the dialogue that already exists between subject and photographer to the viewer. Ploeger’s work also explores the complex interplay of couples and single people inhabiting domestic space and the differences between them.
