Winner of this year's coveted European Publisher's Prize, Norfolk's recent series is an
in-depth examination of the archaeological destruction of layers of war in Afghanistan spanning 22 years.
They are records of destroyed civilizations, rebuilt and layered upon one another, and the sweeping color
images were shot between December 2001 and May 2002.
A selection of images was reproduced in a recent New York Times Sunday Magazine.
As a result of winning the Publisher's Prize, these photographs were published in a
stunning 96 page hard cover book by 5 different publishers in 5 different languages.
Entitled, Afghanistan: chronotopia, the American book launch will be held in Portland at Powell's Books,
in collaboration with Blue Sky, on Tuesday, January 7.
