Artist
As an art student in the '60s, Allen painted pictures where objects
in front and back traded places and where bright colors receded and muted colors advanced.
As a photographer, spatial confusion continues to appeal to her,
as does the juxtaposition of animate with often livelier inanimate objects.
She was hired in 1968 by the State Museum of New Jersey to create "The Face of Jersey."
Quirky, fun, black and white images from this series, as well as from another series started in the '60s,
"People with Art," will be on display.
