"From The Banks of The Tanana River" is Dennis Witmer's quiet
reflection on wild Alaska, his home for over a decade. His black and white
images show an expansive, rugged wilderness along the Tanana River, south
of Fairbanks, at places untouched, but at many points littered with shell
cases, beer cans and trash. Witmer's photos speak of loss, and they show
a resilient environment maintaining its own sense of beauty despite human
encroachment.
Witmer will also lecture on his work on Wednesday, September 5 at 7:30 pm.
